URBAN GARDEN ROOM

New York City

A winter garden for New York’s first LEED Platinum Building, the Urban Garden Room has been recognized as one of the great public spaces in Manhattan.  The client, The Durst Organization, wanted a space that felt natural and refuge-like.   Taking our cue from the fern canyons of northern California – narrow, vertical spaces that attract so many visitors for their distinctly cool and serene atmosphere – we designed four living green sculptures that transform the tall, narrow room into a contemplative space.  Featured in Lynn and Morrone’s “Guide to New York City Urban Landscapes.”
