Sustainability
Resources - The utilitarian areas of the resort such as the Back-of-House and administration areas have been designed as a working landscape: black water and gray water are filtered through reed beds and used to irrigate productive gardens and wetlands.
Socio-economic - The goal of Shillim is to provide a model integrating the people who live in the area into the resort's economy. Shillim has employed local farmers to work in the nursery, construct water harvesting devices, plant and maintain reforested areas, and patrol the area to control forest fires and poaching. |
