A new trail system as well as new open space will build on the "hidden" quality of the river, allowing people to feel the relief of the water, to kayak between Locust Point and Bartram's garden, to birdwatch, fish, or play near the water's edge. The trail system weaves together the city's industrial past, new park spaces, rebounding tidal habitats, and connects South Philadelphia directly to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Fairmount Park system. The path will become the spine for new private and public developments that turn their attention back to this forgotten waterfront. |
