Queens Plaza
Long Island City, New York
The area known as Baby Park functions as a 'Working Green', with potential uses such as recreation, wildlife habitat, community gardens, recycling & composting, a plant nursery, water filtration, and educational programs. The Blue Thread will change character here, irrigating gardens, nurseries, and plantings. An educational medicinal garden will draw on Native American plant use within the historic Sunkisk floodplain. The elevated and piped outfalls, taking stormwater from the bridge down to the ground will be channelled through water-harvesting devices, expressing the forces of wind and rain on the site.
